Last night I started working on it, it doesn't look like much, but it took a while to braid.
I'm really excited about this bridle, next I need to start thinking about a good accent color for the knots. Any ideas?
I found a picture of a really neat charro bridle a couple days ago, and decided to try to make one. I was able to find more photos of the charro bridle, which I'm very thankful for. It's a lot more complex than I would have thought at a quick glance. Last night I started working on it, it doesn't look like much, but it took a while to braid. Surprisingly those pieces of string should assemble together into a browband, crownpiece, and mecate. The only missing parts are the cheekpiece and the bosal, which will have to come later, because I have no sinew and the cheekpiece is attached to the bosal.

I used embroidery thread. For the narrower pieces I split the embroidery thread in half, so each strand only has three threads instead of six.

AuthorI've been in the model horse hobby actively for about four years. My main interests are customizing, tackmaking, and showing, although I do like to venture into the different aspects of the hobby also. Aside from model horses I ride real horses, and also dabble in leather crafting. Hope you enjoy my blog! Archives
