I made this money clip a few weeks back as a commission for a friend. She wanted a floral tooling with a nutty brown finish. Throughout the tooling I decided to document the process, as the most asked question I get when I say I tool leather is, "How do you do it?" This is how!
I don't have much to blog about as of lately, but I'm going to try and keep this blog active, even if it's just a picture of a horse or a piece of tack with a caption. Who all's going to Breyerfest this year? I'm not sure if I'm going or not yet, but if I do I'm going to try and enter the diorama contest, along with the costume contest. I've wanted to enter the past few years, but either didn't have enough time or didn't have a good idea. That's about all that's been going on, I do have a post in the works about repairing models. With luck that will be finished by the end of the week. It might consist of a few different posts, going over different repairs. Keep an eye out for those! I promise this is going to be the last apology for lack of updates. I came back from Midwinter's and had to catch up, then got sick with the flu and some other crud for the month of February. March was spent catching up from being sick, and now my computer's having issues. Hopefully that'll be cleared up soon and I'll be able to blog away
As promised, here's pictures from Midwinter's. Every show I go to, I always swear I'm going to take pictures of other people's horses, and every show it's all I can do to get pictures of my horses. I got about eight NAN cards total in some tough competition, which isn't bad considering this is only my third show! I showed about a 100 horses, which is safe to say I will never do again. It was hard to keep up with three different rings at a time and I wouldn't recommend anybody taking a 100 ponies to show! Photo Spam! These are some of the few pictures I got of other people's horses, if anyone knows who's entries these are, please let me know! First off, I am so sorry for not updating in so long, I have no excuse aside from being busy and not doing much with the models. I'll write more later, but currently I'm on my way up to a model show! Will anyone be at Midwinter's Night Ball? Feel free to stop by my table and say hello, I'll be at the table with the polka dot tablecloth. Keep an eye out for pictures! Just wanted to share with y'all, the horse blog "She Moved to Texas" is having a model giveaway. I'm thrilled that a fellow hobbyist is giving away some of her tack in a "starter pack"! Enter here!
First off, I am so sorry for taking so long to post, I haven't been doing much worth posting about! Also, I'm going to try to update once a week, hopefully more often though! I'll try to get a tutorial up soon, I have one in the works for how I do stablemate ears. Here's more Breyerfest photos! That's all I have of the Open Show, I would've liked to get more photos, oh well. Here's some reference pictures I got at the museums and whatnot. I highly recommend going to the museums, they were amazing! Enjoy! I'll upload more references soon.
I've been a bad blogger, sorry y'all! I got completely sidetracked. I'll try to be better, and resume the ABC articles at some point.
Anyways, here's some Breyerfest photos as promised! I didn't get near as many photos of the Open show as I would've liked, but oh well. I do have a few more pictures of the Open Show, but I don't have them saved to my computer. Once I get a hold of them I'll post them. We're now back in Texas, tonight I will be back in my own bed. I think if I don't completely collapse on the bed, I may do some customizing. Or organize my shelves. I need to figure out where I can stuff the new models I got. My shelves were filled to the brim before Breyerfest, now I have spill over. For now, here's a picture of the Texas I'm used to: First off, I apologize for not posting any Breyerfest pictures yet, I've been in North Carolina on vacation. The cabin we stayed at had no cell service, so all the phone was good for was a paperweight. Same goes for wifi, so the computer was just this thing that got dragged back and forth to the cabin and the truck. I'll get some photos up soon, possibly late tonight at the hotel. No later than Friday, I promise. Anyways, we're in Georgia at the moment, on our way back to Texas. We've travelled through about eight states now on this trip alone. Here's a teaser of some of the 250+ photos I took at the Horse Park, Breyerfest or otherwise. It's a Mini Whinny scale set up of a jousting tournament that was in the International Museum of the Horse. |
AuthorI've been in the model horse hobby actively for about four years. My main interests are customizing, tackmaking, and showing, although I do like to venture into the different aspects of the hobby also. Aside from model horses I ride real horses, and also dabble in leather crafting. Hope you enjoy my blog! Archives
