The Making of a Leather Money Clip: Part Two

Here's part two of the money clip!
Next I use a seeder to make pollen grains.

Now I use a swivel knife to make decorative cuts along the stems and in the petals.

Next I use a veiner to decorate the stems.

The last step for this clip is to use the camoflouger to finish detailing the stems.

And that's all for tooling! Next I'm going to dye the leather and assemble the clip. I didn't really  document the process because I was starting to get into a time crunch, but basically you swab the dye on, make sure it's an even coat, let it dry overnight, buff the leather, then apply the finish in one even coat. Let the finish dry overnight then assemble.

I didn't get any pictures of the assembly either, but what I do is I use rubber cement, which is a latex based glue, to hold the parts together while I stitch it. The rubber cement isn't very strong, so it usually only works long enough to get everything permanently stitched together.

I don't have any pictures of the finished clip, but here it is dyed, finished, and half way stitched.

It was really hard to get a picture of it's true color, as the finish is glossy and the brown is really complex brown that has many colors in it. The closest to it's true color in this picture is the flower on the right side.

That's all there is to it!

I've been in the model horse hobby actively for about four years. My main interests are customizing, tackmaking, and showing, although I do like to venture into the different aspects of the hobby also. Aside from model horses I ride real horses, and also dabble in leather crafting. Hope you enjoy my blog!
